Guidelines for Receipt of FOI Requests for Non-Personal Records and Liaison with FOI Unit

Personal Records - information relating to an identifiable individual, only known to the individual or family.
Non-Personal Records - broadly concerning work of a public body e.g. statistics, reports, policy, briefs.
Mixed Records - element of both personal and non-personal category of request combined

1. Requesters should be directed to send Non-Personal/Mixed requests to FOI Unit in the first instance to the following address:

2. Non-Personal/Mixed requests received by another area of the Department should be copied to FOI Unit on the day it is received. FOI Unit will register the request.
3. The relevant FOI Officer should acknowledge receipt of the request.
4. The FOI Officer should notify appropriate personnel of any non-personal/mixed requests received.
5. The FOI Officer should contact the FOI Unit for advice as early as possible; where advice is required.
Multifaceted FOI requests may attract fees. In order to ensure fees for search and retrieval of records do not apply, please ensure the request is directed to the appropriate area and does not relate to a number of different business areas. Separate requests may be sent to relevant business areas as appropriate.
