Child Benefit

Child Benefit is a monthly payment for each qualified child normally living with you and being supported by you.

After-school Child Care Scheme (ASCC)

The After-School Child Care Scheme (ASCC) supports low-income unemployed people to return to work. The scheme provides subsidised after-school childcare places to people with children of primary school age who find employment, increase the number of days they work or take up a place on an employment support scheme.

Working Family Payment

Working Family Payment (WFP) is a weekly payment for families, including one parent families, at work on low pay. It is not subject to income tax and does not affect whether you can get a medical card.; In order to qualify for Working Family Payment, either you or your spouse must be engaged in insurable employment.

One Parent Family Payment

One-Parent Family Payment is a payment for men and women who are bringing up a child without the support of a partner.

Jobseeker's Transitional Payment

The Jobseeker’s Transitional Payment is a provision under the Jobseeker’s Allowance scheme that is available to lone parents (both former OFP recipients and new lone parents), who are not co-habiting and have a youngest child aged 7 to 13 years inclusive

Maternity, Paternity, Adoption and Health and Safety Benefit

Maternity Benefit is a payment for employed and self-employed pregnant women who satisfy certain PRSI contribution conditions on their own insurance record.

Paternity Benefit The Paternity Leave and Benefit Act 2016 introduced a new Paternity Benefit together with statutory paternity leave of 2 weeks. The legislation allows new fathers to start the combined package of paternity leave and paternity benefit at any time within the first six months following birth or adoption of a child. The provisions apply to births and adoptions on or after 1 September 2016.

Adoptive Benefit is a payment for an adopting parent who adopts a child. You may get it if you are an employee or a self-employed person and if you satisfy certain PRSI conditions on your own record

Health and Safety Benefit is a weekly payment for employed women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and who are granted health and safety leave by their employer.

Guardian's Payments (Contributory)

Guardian's Payments (Contributory: An Orphan may get Guardian's Payment (Contributory) based on their parent's or stepparent's PRSI contributions. The guardian of the orphan(s) gets the payment.

Guardian's Payment (Non-Contributory): An orphan may get Guardian's Payment (Non-contributory), based on the orphan's means test. The guardian of the orphan(s) gets the payment.

Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance

The Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance (BTSCFA) helps you meet the cost of uniforms and footwear for children going to school.

School Meals Scheme

The School Meals Programme aims to provide regular, nutritious food to children who are unable, by reason of lack of good quality food, to take full advantage of the education provided for them.
